The legendary musicians will perform together at London's 100 Club

Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones are set to team up to play a one-off joint show, it has been announced.

The iconic musicians will join forces for one night only on March 28 when they will perform together at a benefit gig for London radio station Resonance FM.

The pair will be joined at the show by drummer Steve Noble, who has worked with luminaries of the free jazz scene including Derek Bailey and Joe McPhee.

The gig will take place at the 100 Club on Oxford Street. Tickets are available now and can be purchased here.

Resonance FM was founded in 2002 by the London Musicians’ Collective and is supported by the donations of listeners, partners including Arts Council England, and other organisations.

Last year, Moore performed alongside the likes of The Libertines and Patti Smith at a benefit for Palestinian refugee children. He is among a number of musicians who have been very vocal about artists playing in Israel while a cultural boycott is ongoing, and spoke out against Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds when they performed there last year.

Led Zeppelin, meanwhile, celebrated their 50th-anniversary last year. Despite rumours that they would mark the occasion with a reunion performance, frontman Robert Plant said they “could only reunite in a chip shop.”

“I think that’s about as close as we will get to it,” he said. “We are very pleased and glad with our very, very short career. If you think about it, it’s only 12 years. We get on okay, but you know…”
