The Verve frontman was a guest on the show last month

Richard Ashcroft claims that the ‘sachet’ seen falling out of his sock during his appearance on Soccer AM is a “doctored” image.

The Verve frontman was a guest on the show last month when viewers spotted what looked like a sachet appearing to fall out of his sock. He quickly swooped down to pick it up. A number of viewers soon shared footage on Twitter, suggesting that it was a small bag of drugs.

He’s now said that the person who “doctored” an image during his appearance on the Sky Sports Saturday morning show will “regret doing that”.

Speaking to LADBible, Ashcroft said, “I don’t know how many national publications printed a picture that someone had sent in from online.

“It’s strange when you have been in the game this long that this idea would take place. But to see the effects of a doctored photograph by an individual, who we don’t know who it is.

“But believe you me, you are going to regret doing that, whoever you are,” he added.

Earlier this month (Oct 5), Ashcroft released a new song ‘Hey Colombo’ which was seemingly a response to the Soccer AM accusations.

“Ever get stitched up, matched up, crucified before you open your eyes?” he sings, later adding “did you ever have your baby patted down? Strip searched? Are you the fucking clown?”

Meanwhile, Ashcroft is gearing up to play a string of shows later this week, before a run of dates in Spring 2019.
