"He’s just a genuinely bad, racist person ".

Pete Davidson has described Chevy Chase as a “fucking douchebag”, after the former Saturday Night Live comedian criticised the very show that helped him make his name.

In a recent interview with the Washington Post, Chase criticised the modern ensemble cast of the popular show – having made his debut in 1975 alongside the likes of John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd.

“A whole generation of shitheads laughs at the worst fucking humour in the world”, he said of the show.”How could you dare give that generation worse shit than they already have in their lives? It just drives me nuts.”

But Davidson wasn’t willing to let the comments lie.

“Fuck Chevy Chase… he’s just a genuinely bad, racist person and I don’t like him. He’s a putz”, he told The Howard Stern Show.

“What has he done since ’83? Nothing. He had a big career and then it stopped because everybody realised he’s a jerkoff.”, he added.

“He should know more than anybody. It’s disrespectful to [SNL founder] Lorne [Michaels] too, a guy who gave you a career. No matter how big you get, you can’t forget what that guy did for you.”

It’s believed that Davidson’s reference to racism comes after he was accused of making “racial cracks” against Donald Glover on the set of Community.

Chase was part of the main cast in the role of Pierce Hawthorne for the first four seasons before appearing more sporadically as a guest in season five.

According to a new New Yorker profile about Glover, his veteran co-star Chase “often tried to disrupt his scenes and made racial cracks between takes”.

National Lampoon alum Chase is said to have once told Glover: “People think you’re funnier because you’re black”.

The show’s creator Dan Harmon appeared to corroborate the claims, saying: “Chevy was the first to realise how immensely gifted Donald was, and the way he expressed his jealousy was to try to throw Donald off.”
