The annual ceremony took place at New York's Madison Square Garden in 2016.

The MTV Video Music Awards are going back to Cali.

The annual music event will air live from the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Sunday, Aug. 27, at 8 p.m. ET.

The VMAs have bounced from coast to coast over the past few years, broadcasting from New York's Madison Square Garden in 2016. The Forum served as the VMAs venue in 2014, with the show moving to Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater in 2015. Brooklyn's Barclays Center served as the site of the 2013 VMAs.

“The City of Inglewood welcomes the return of the MTV VMAs to the No. 1 concert venue in California, the Forum,” Mayor James Butts said Thursday in a statement. “Once again, Madison Square Garden set the standard for both East and West Coasts.”

Added Forum managing partner Shelli Azoff, “MTV, at 35 years old, has been around almost as long as the Forum. Together, we’re 85 and enjoy lifetimes of music history. This year is sure to be another epic show with many incredible memories for MTV, the award winners, and especially the fans. The entire Forum family is thrilled to welcome back the VMAs!”
