The pop star criticised the US Vice President and his wife during her Las Vegas residency

Lady Gaga has called out Mike and Karen Pence during her Las Vegas residency, calling them the “worst representation of” Christianity.

The pop star took a moment during her latest show at the city’s Park Theatre to share her feelings on the US Vice President and his wife.

“You say we should not discriminate against Christianity; you are the worst representation of what it means to be a Christian,” she addressed Mike Pence. “I am a Christian woman and what I do know about Christianity is that we bear no prejudice and everybody is welcome. So you can take all that disgrace Mr Pence and you can look yourself in the mirror and you’ll find it right there.”

Gaga’s criticism comes after it was announced Karen Pence would return to Immanuel Christian School to teach art two days a week. The school has been accused of discriminating against LGBTQ children and parents because of a policy that allows them to “discontinue enrolment” if students or their parents “are in opposition to the biblical lifestyle the school teaches.” It includes “supporting or condoning sexual immorality, homosexual activity or bisexual activity.”

The star also gave time to the current shutdown of the US government, which has now been going on for 30 days. Donald Trump began the shutdown last month after Democrats refused to approve the $5.7 billion (£4.4 billion) he wanted to build a wall between the US and Mexico.

“Please put our government back in business,” Gaga said on stage. “There are people who live paycheque to paycheque and need their money.”

Gaga’s Las Vegas residency began on December 28, 2018 and is currently scheduled to run until November 8, 2019. It features two different shows over the run – Lady Gaga Enigma, a “brand-new odyssey of her pop hits built as an experience unlike any other”, and Jazz And Piano, which will see her perform stripped-down versions of her own classics as well as tracks from the Great American Songbook.
