The actor, musician, and DJ is up for working with the New Yorker

Idris Elba has suggested he and A$AP Rocky could collaborate together in the future – and not necessarily in music.

The actor is also a musician and DJ, and has featured on tracks by Skepta and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and opened for Madonna at a Berlin stop of her Rebel Heart tour in 2015.

Speaking to Matt Wilkinson on Beats 1 on Apple Music, Elba said of New York rapper Rocky: “I love A$AP, he’s a good soul. And every time we meet each other we’re like, ‘Let’s work.'”

He went on to say the star had ambitions to try out new things. “He wants to act,” he said. “He does act. I want to do music. So we just collaborate and we nearly made it happen. Skepta is a good friend also, and they connect. So we’re just in a circle where there’s a possibility. There’s no ‘no’s’ in this game.”

Recently, Elba has been surrounded by speculation that he will be the next James Bond when Daniel Craig steps down from the role. Last week (August 22), he seemingly confirmed that that won’t be the case.

Asked during an appearance on Good Morning Britain if he would be becoming the infamous British secret agent in the near future, he curtly responded: “No.”

Meanwhile, the actor launched his own record label last month, called 7Wallace Music. His first signing is the French-Cameroonian artist James BKS, who has worked with the likes of Diddy and Talib Kweli.

“James is a rare find,” Elba said. “His hip-hop sensibilities transfer to the other music he makes, he’s a nice person to work with and is gonna be a strong artist for the future. It’s a huge move for 7Wallace, a small indie label.”
