Solo 45, real name Andy Anokye, denies the charges

Bristol grime artist Solo 45, a member of the Boy Better Know collective, is standing trial for a number of charges including 22 counts of rape and five counts of false imprisonment.

The artist, whose real name is Andy Anokye, has denied the charges today (January 10) at a trial in Bristol that is due to last five weeks.

According to a report by The Guardian, he also faces two charges of assault by penetration and two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Prosecutor Christopher Quinlan QC alleged that Anokye “violently treated, bullied and sexually abused” four women over a two-year period.

“He imprisoned, physically assaulted and sexually violated and raped four women. He filmed, for posterity, a great deal of what he did,” Quinlan said.

Quinlan also claimed that each of the four women would give evidence during the forthcoming days of the trial. He alleged that Anokye “physically assaulted, falsely imprisoned – that is to hold them against their will – and raped each of them repeatedly.”

“We say he is a violent and controlling narcissist, a bully, a sadist who derives satisfaction and sexual pleasure from inflicting pain and suffering on women who we allege are his victims,” he said.

The prosecution alleged that Anokye caused physical harm to the women through techniques including waterboarding, pouring bleach into the mouth and stabbing in the leg.

According to The Guardian, police examining Anokye’s mobile phones and computer discovered searches for the term ‘dacryphilia’.

Quinlan defined the term as meaning “Sexual arousal from another’s fears. Tears and terror may have given him a sexual thrill.”

According to The Bristol Post, one of the women alleges that Anokye told her “My sex is on the verge of rape.”

Anokye denies all charges against him.
