MUSIC superstar Ed Sheeran has arrived in Perth as he gets set to kick-off his Australian tour at Optus Stadium.

The 27-year-old arrived in WA on a commercial flight just after midnight.

He will perform on Friday and Saturday nights at the new stadium.

The shows to around 60,000 fans each — still shy of Adele’s single gig record of 65,000 at Domain Stadium in February last year — are part of the biggest ever tour in Australasian concert history.

The 18 shows on Sheeran’s fourth visit Down Under have sold more than 950,000 tickets to break Dire Straits’ 1986 record for most tickets sold on a tour of Australia and New Zealand.
