Deftones reveal neck-breaking shots from their new studio sessions
New songs are definitely on the way
Deftones shared two intimate shots on Twitter yesterday (August 17), announcing the band’s return to the studio to work on their upcoming album.
The images emerged after a busy summer of touring for the metal veterans. And judging by the broken guitar neck, the studio sessions in Sacramento are going really well.
The band’s previous release was their acclaimed 2016 album ‘Gore‘.
Earlier this year, the Deftones posted photos of them “back at it” and “jamming” in the studio while frontman Chino Moreno revealed in May that they have “six or seven” new songs written for their new album.
Deftones will have to take some time out of the studio for their own one-day festival in November. The band will headline the inaugural ‘Dia De Los Deftones’ with Future, Mike Shinoda and H09909 joining the bill.
“For years, we’ve played on festivals with such amazing and diverse line-ups and that is what we have achieved with our first line-up for Dia de Los Deftones,” vocalist and guitarist Chino Moreno said in a statement.
Speaking of their plans for the future, Chino Moreno told NME last year: “When we make records, we don’t really talk about what we’re trying to do or what our ideas are for it, we kind of just go in and make music. That’s what keeps it fresh for us. We don’t try to box ourselves in to these pre-conceived ideas, but we have talked about getting together sooner [rather] than later to start making noise together – just out of pure excitement of creating music.”
