The band were pictured in the studio in August

Deftones have revealed that new music from the band is on its way next year, via a minimalist post on the band’s Instagram.

A photo of Sacramento, the band’s hometown, was shared on Deftones’ official Instagram along with the hashtags #2019 and #newmusic

The band’s previous release was their acclaimed 2016 album ‘Gore‘.

Earlier this year, the Deftones posted photos of them “back at it” and “jamming” in the studio while frontman Chino Moreno revealed in May that they have “six or seven” new songs written for their new album.

In August, the band shared two more intimate shots from recording sessions believed to be for their next album.

The shots included a broken guitar neck, indicating that the Sacramento sessions are going well.

Speaking of their plans for the future, Chino Moreno told NME last year: “When we make records, we don’t really talk about what we’re trying to do or what our ideas are for it, we kind of just go in and make music. That’s what keeps it fresh for us. We don’t try to box ourselves in to these pre-conceived ideas, but we have talked about getting together sooner [rather] than later to start making noise together – just out of pure excitement of creating music.”

Last month the band took time out of the studio to put on their own festival ‘Dia De Los Deftones’. The one-day event also featured the likes of Future, Mike Shinoda and H09909.
