An unlikely namecheck for the Baltimore band

The Chainsmokers have honoured Beach House by singing about the Dream Pop duo on their new single.

The track, called – you guessed it – ‘Beach House’, contains the lyric: “Listening to Beach House, taking my time.”

Following its release, the EDM outfit said of the single: “Really love this song as well ’cause we tried to get back to our roots on this with that classic OG Chainsmoker feel.

“And we were listening to a lot of Beach House.”

Despite the apparent influence and namecheck, the dance track bears little resemblance to the Baltimore cool kids’ ethereal soundscapes. Check it out below.

Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart previously gave a shout-out to Blink-182. The track ‘Closer’ – their collaboration with Halsey – features the lyric: “Stay and play that Blink-182 song/ That we beat to death in Tuscon, okay.”

The Chainsmokers released a four-track EP, ‘Sick Boy’, back in April. Its social media-bashing title track dropped in January. Their debut album, ‘Memories…Do Not Open’, was released in 2017.

Meanwhile, Beach House’s latest album ‘7’ arrived in May – following the release of lead single ‘Lemon Glow’ and ‘Dive‘. Reviewing the former, NME said: “It’s packed full of synthesizers, and may well be Beach House’s most danceable track to date.”
