Cool OVH seedbox, can I use it for torrenting?

    Hi guys,
Sorry I'm a little new to torrenting and all the technical stuff that comes with it. But a friend of mine offered me a server from OVH and said I could use it as a seedbox. I have no idea how I would do that. Is it even possible? Are there any guides online that explain how to set up a seedbox? He told me to google it (lol) but I can't find anything simple and it all seems super hard.

    Thanks for any help! =)

yes, there are a few guides out there .
quite alot of them geared towards ovh servers and how to turn them into a seedbox via various scripts.
i would hit google, and there are a quite a few youtube videos as well.

i would point you to the one i used but it didnt quite come out flawless and i had to do some tweaking and scripting on my end to get it up and working.
basic knowledge of command line is a great asset.

All the seedboxes that exist are either from LeaseWeb or OVH.

Setting up a seedbox depends on your server's OS (likely a Linux distro). http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+make+your+own+seedbox

You have a nice friend! I recently setup my seedbox using this guide:

I used the script in the last part of the comment section. Hope this helps.

yes I can confirm that. I use couple of dedis. Clients I used are transmission and rutorrents. They let you use upto 100Mbit/sec. But there are no 1Gbps plans available.

Soyoustart is a separate OVH brand which provides 1Gbps boxes. The prices are pretty good even though they have increased their prices overall. Kimsufi has still unbeatable money-to-value ratio, but all of them have 100mbps cap.

soyoustart is a gbit downlink, however, uplink is capped to 250mbit.
the pro servers at ovh are all minimum 1gbit down and also capped at 500mbit up, but u can pay about $50 more a month to get 1gbit dedicated. mind you, the more high end ovh pro servers can reach up to 3 or 10gbit
