Windows 10 does come with a new mail client on both PCs and smartphones, but it’s not a secret that part of the users who install the new OS aren’t really pleased with the way it looks and works, especially in the case of the desktop version.

And while Microsoft doesn’t seem to be willing to roll out a significant update for the Mail app, concept designers across the world already have some ideas on how the client can be improved.
Living proof is this new concept published by DeviantArt user wwsalmon who mixed the Windows 10 design language with Google’s Material Design. The result is an eye-candy Mail client that can run on both desktop computers and smartphones powered by Windows 10 Mobile.
“This concept takes the good parts of Windows, the good parts of Material Design, and puts it to practical use as an email client,” the designer explains.
Universal app inspired by Google’s Material Design Since it’d be a universal app, this new Google-inspired Mail app would come with a similar look and feel on both desktops and smartphones, just like the original client that’s currently available in Windows 10.
Certainly, this concept brings forward some pretty eye-appealing Windows 10 Mail restyling ideas, but for the moment, Microsoft has no intention to make such changes to the application. Obviously, the fact that the design is inspired by Google’s Material Design doesn’t help either, although it’s very clear that it brings important changes in terms of looks and functionality.
“There are a couple of new things added, such as grouping by time in the list of emails and the attachments, but nothing too crazy here,” the designer further adds.
At this point, Microsoft is mostly focused on improving the overall performance and features of the new Windows 10 Mail app, so in case you’re hoping for some visual enhancements too, the upcoming Redstone update due in mid-2016 is the only one that could bring them.
