The official Facebook app for Windows 10 is still in private beta, but it’s receiving some pretty exciting updates that are yet to be introduced in the version developed by Microsoft, including the recently debuted reactions that are already available for iOS and Android users.

Microsoft announced during its October 6 hardware event last year that Facebook would develop an official client for Windows 10, but five months later, the app is nowhere to be seen, although a select group of users have been chosen to participate in the private beta program.
And one of these users has posted a screenshot of the app on Reddit, confirming that the client has recently been updated with the reactions emoji that launched not long ago on all rival platforms.
Emoji reactions for Windows 10 users This means that, in addition to the traditional like button, users can also rate posts with haha, love, wow, sad, and angry emoticons, just like those on Android and iOS. It’s not yet clear if other improvements are also part of the private beta, but it’s very clear that Facebook’s trying to keep the Windows version of its client in line with those on rival operating systems.
There’s no information on when Facebook’s official client could make its public debut as the social network continues work on the project behind closed doors. Furthermore, it appears that the plan right now is to build a desktop version of the client, so for the moment, no Windows Phone sibling is in the works.
But with Windows 10 Mobile just around the corner, building apps for smartphones running the new OS could get a bigger incentive, and there’s no doubt that an official Facebook client would be very well received. Unfortunately, there’s no date on Windows 10 Mobile’s launch either, so the whole saga seems to be full of uncertain data.
