Windows 10 Users Can Now Stream Xbox One Games to Their PCs

Microsoft has recently announced that Xbox One streaming features to PCs are available for everyone enrolled in the Windows Insider program and running Windows 10 preview on their computers.

First presented at the January Windows 10 event in Redmond, the option to stream an Xbox One game to a PC running Windows 10 is supposed to provide gamers with more control over their console, without having to be in front of it, while also bringing together devices running the new operating system.

Streaming Xbox One titles to Windows 10 is possible with the a new Xbox app available exclusively in the preview builds of the new OS, which pretty much mirrors any gaming console on your PC or laptop screen. You can see the home screen, games, and apps, and you are allowed to stream games to the PC almost instantly, without the need for any other tweaks or apps.

On the other hand, streaming other multimedia content, such as movies and music, is not allowed yet, and chances are that it won’t be any time soon, because of copyright concerns.

Play Xbox One games on your Windows 10 PC

But what’s really exciting is that, with this feature, you’ll be allowed to play Xbox One games on your PC through your console. If you log in with the same Xbox Live account on both devices and you use the live streaming options, you can easily play any game that’s running on your console right on your PC or laptop.

Needless to say, the game uses the processing power of the console, so if your computer is fast enough to run Windows 10, it should have no issue letting you play Xbox One games too. Split-screen multiplayer is also made easy with this feature because one person can play it on the console, while the other one can stay in front of the PC and play it just like any other multiplayer game.

Keyboards and mice are not yet supported, so for playing games you need an Xbox One controller for PCs, which is already available for purchase from Microsoft’s online store.

The full Xbox One streaming service for Windows 10 will become available this summer, when the new operating system goes live on July 29.
