Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Bans Some Gamers for More than 130 Years

Super Smash Bros. on the 3DS has been selling well since it was launched, and with so many players engaged with the title at the same time, the community has found some interesting behavior for characters and has hid some pretty remarkable bugs.

A new glitch being reported by gamers on Reddit does not just stop them from playing the title for one match but bans them from the online modes for a period of 71 million minutes, which is the equivalent of more than 130 years.

The problem seems to appear randomly during the multiplayer modes and the message claims that the suspension is only a temporary one, albeit with a length that’s bigger than the lifetime of all potential players at the moment.

The problem seems to be linked with some faulty programming in the title.

At the moment, there’s no clear info on how those engaged with Super Smash Bros. for 3DS can avoid getting the long-term ban.

The only suggestion that has emerged from the Reddit discussion is “Try not to target one player in Group/FFA.”

At the same time, the fan base claims that avoiding mid-match quitting can ward off the problem.

Nintendo has not offered any clear comment on the 71-million-minutes ban, but a future patch might eliminate it.
Super Smash Bros. is also coming to the Wii U

The team at Nintendo is also planning to launch Super Smash Bros. for 3DS on the Wii U home console in late November in both the United States and in Europe.

The two video games are different in terms of mechanics and levels, but the programming error that’s causing the 71-million-minute ban might be present in the home console version.

Super Smash Bros. is seen as one of the titles which Nintendo believes has the power to boost the Wii U and to make it a direct competitor to the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

If the bug affects the game, it might result in less sales than initially predicted.

Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U is delivering enhanced gameplay and a very large roster of characters, designed to appeal to as many customers as possible.

The game is also the first one which will make full use of the Amiibo figurines that Nintendo has created and the company is also allowing gamers to create their own fighters based on their Mii avatar.
