The grand finals will take place at the ESL Studio in Cologne, Germany and will be organized in conjunction with the Electronic Sports League, with all the action set to be streamed for fans to watch on Twitch.
There are three qualifiers associated with the tournament, and all interested players will be able to take part, regardless of their favorite platform, on March 2, 7 and 10 to secure a place in the final 16.
Benoit Scappazzoni, the product manager for the publisher in Europe, "For the past few years we have been monitoring the growth of the Storm community across Europe, Middle-East, Africa and Australasia but also the growing interest around the competition. Last year we have launched the Storm League, a platform to support those activities… This year we go even further by organizing the first season of the Storm Championship through the Storm League!"
Since the title was first launched on February 5 of this year, more than 1 million units were shipped to gamers on both the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.
According to Bandai Namco, fans have been praising both the gameplay and the graphics offered by Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, as well as by the way story manages to explore the narrative threads of the universe.
The game faces some tough competition in 2015 The publisher has not yet said whether it has plans to deliver any sort of major gameplay update for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 this year to tweak the combat mechanics or any other core feature.
On March 8, players who own a Season Pass will be able to get access to a piece of downloadable content called Shikamaru's Tale, which will offer a three-hour-long experience that will follow the events of a book that takes place two years after the end of the Fourth Shinobi War.
Other gamers will access the same content one week later, and the package also features new costumes, info cards, voices, items and four new ultimate techniques to use in combat.
The game and the Storm Championship needs solid support from developer CyberConnect 2 and Bandai Namco if they hope to compete with the likes of Street Fighter V, which Capcom just launched, and Killer Instinct, which will start its third season in March.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 can offer an interesting alternative to fighting game fans as long as the two companies can add extra value all through the year.
