March 2015 is on its last day, and as with the end of each month its time to start scoping out the games that are being offered by Microsoft’s Games with Gold program and Sony’s PlayStation Plus service. Because that’s what’s most important as each month comes to a close, right?

Microsoft already made their announcement last week, which included new free games like Gears of War: Judgment, Terraria, and Child of Light, so it was only a matter of time before Sony did the same for its community, which has grown since the launch of the PS4.

The PS Plus offerings have their ups and downs, in terms of overall fan appeal, and March’s got a bit of a mixed reaction, due to most of the games being indie titles, albeit really good ones like CounterSpy and Valiant Hearts. This month, where the PS4, PS3, and Vita all get two games each, could go either way as well. On the bright side, though, the Vita gets a pair of games that are exclusive to the platform.

Starting with the PS4, PS Plus members can download Tower of Guns and Never Alone. The former is described as being “over-the-top” and places players in a tower full of enemies, bosses, power-ups, and “a boatload of bullets,” presumably bullets that must be used to shoot your way out. Puzzle title Never Alone, meanwhile, is a more on the calmer side, in which players control Nuna, a native Alaskan girl with a pet fox, and travel across various environments in an attempt to save her village.

As said previously, PS4 owners may not be excited to play these two games, but the Instant Games Collection has done well at introducing new and unique games.

Moving on to the PS3, both Dishonored and Aaru’s Awakening will be up for grabs in April, with the former probably being the more appealing of the two. Dishonored, for those that never got around to playing it, puts people in the role of Corvo Attano, a bodyguard framed for killing the Empress, who must use a range of stealth and combat skills to clear his name and seek revenge.

Aaru’s Awakening, completely unlike Dishonored, is a platformer with a teleportation mechanic…okay, so maybe not that different. Either way, expect some tricky levels that will test a person’s ability to pay attention to their surroundings, as well as recognizing the opportune moment to teleport.

Last but not least, of course, is the much-beloved PlayStation Vita. Like we said at the top, the Vita gets two games all to itself; no cross-buy/play included. The first of the two, Killzone Mercenary, should be a treat for fans of the shooter that also own the PS handheld. Overall gameplay time may vary, however, depending on how popular the online multiplayer still is.

MonsterBag is yet another puzzler, but one that stars a bag-shaped monster named V trying to reach his friend Nia. The catch is he wants to accomplish this without “scaring the pants off of people.” Judging by V’s appearance, it should be clear why that may be an issue.

All of games mentioned above will be free on the PlayStation Store beginning next Tuesday, April 7, 2014. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean the current PS Plus lineup will stick around for another week, so go grab those before regret sets in.

Are any of April’s games appealing to you? Or will it be another month that makes you question the nature of the service? At least PS Plus members get to enjoy discounts sometimes to go along with the occasional flash sale.
