Grand Theft Auto Online cheaters and hacks will be challenged soon with Rockstar Game’s new patch. They are releasing an update that will help them fight the hacks and cheats as well as fix some glitches. Of late, many Grand Theft Auto Online gamers have been raking in stacks of GTA dollars, or “GTA$”, without actually having to earn them. Rather than shooting prostitutes and stealing cars, gamers are hacking into the system and cheating to earn vast sums of in-game money.

Rockstar Games is working on finding out who has the extra stashes of GTA$ and removing money made from any of these hacks. They are also working on preventing such opportunities from happening again.

In terms of dealing with the hackers and cheaters themselves, the gaming company assures that some sort of “punishment” is in the works. The cheaters will have to return their unearned wealth at a minimum. This will appease those who have actually worked hard, without the cheats, to get to where they are in the game.

For gamers who have collected a large bounty or been gifted a ton of GTA$ and would like to have it removed, a request can be submitted to Rockstar Support. The company will adjust the balance appropriately and return the gamer to the original pre-cheat levels. If gamers choose not to report their huge increases in money, then the patch will remedy the situation once it is released by taking away any unearned GTA$.

Rockstar looks as though they’re taking their anti-cheating initiative to the next level by asking online players if they would help turn in anybody they know who has capitalised on the hacks and cheats. Should any gamers notice that their peers are taking advantage of the situation during their sessions, the company has advised that they report it immediately using the in-game reporting function.

Grand Theft Auto Online now features a “cheating pool” where gamers caught hacking and cheating are placed. These individuals are then exiled to the pool and are unable to legally obtain cash. They are also put in a time-out for a certain period. Some cheaters may not even have access to the game for months if caught.
