PewDiePie’s subscriber war with T-Series has expanded to a new venue in the wildly popular building game Roblox. But Roblox’s moderators don’t seem especially happy about that – in fact, players are reporting that any created content mentioning PewDiePie is getting removed from the game, and after stream last weekend, the YouTuber himself has been banned from the game.

If you’re not familiar with the subscriber war, the basic gist is that a whole lot of YouTube users are unhappy that the channel of Indian production company T-Series is close to the top subscriber count on the platform. So they want PewDiePie on top instead. If you’ve seen the memetic “sub to PewDiePie” thrown around lately, that’s why – and it’s gone as far as a GTA5 hacker promoting PewDiePie on the in-game news feed.

PewDiePie’s latest effort in the subscriber war involved a big Robolox stream this past Sunday. After that stream, PewDiePie was banned from the game with a moderator note saying “your username is inappropriate for Roblox,” which the YouTuber addresses in a recent video. That username was ‘pewdie123t32.’

Ordinary players are seeing similar action, as Kotaku reports. In-game objects carrying the ‘sub to PewDiePie’ banner are getting removed, and usernames referencing PewDiePie in varied spellings have been restricted from the account creation process.

We’ve reached to Roblox for comment, but did not receive an immediate response. Roblox has a large audience of children, and PewDiePie is a controversial figure, with incidents ranging from his use of the the N-word on stream to his recommendation of a YouTube channel filled with anti-Semitic jokes.

PewDiePie has apologised for both of those, but it’s easy to imagine that Roblox, with its family-friendly image, is skittish about what he’ll be apologising for next.
