PSN Is Facing Unexpected Downtime, Gaming And Social Service Affected [Update]

PSN is having issues with its gaming and social service, which is reportedly affecting online service including multiplayer access for users. One of the game that is affected is Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Sony has confirmed the downtime on the official PSN status website and has shared the following update.

Affected platform: PS4

Affected Service: You may have some difficulty launching games, applications, or online features. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.
There is no time frame given for a fix but since Sony has their engineers working on this issue, we can hope for an early resolution.

Update: It has been fixed according to the official website but Black Ops 3 server still are Defcon 2 with the status that “Online services are degraded. Users in some regions may experience connectivity issues.”

This downtime happened after the launch of Uncharted 4 on May 10th, which is one of the most anticipated PS4 exclusive this year. This will be followed by the launch of Doom on May 13th. Both of these games feature online multiplayer which is currently affected by the ongoing outage.
