PS4 Firmware update 5.0 is a much-awaited console update and Sony has rolled out the update to the public after beta testing it. PS4 Firmware update 5.0, unlike the few previous updates, brings some changes to the table and most notably for PS4 Pro.

PS4 firmware update 5.0 is almost 374MB in size. With this update, PS4 Pro users will be able to stream at 1080p/60 FPS through Twitch. Furthermore, Sony has also updated the family and accounts management system that allows parents to easily manage accounts.

Furthermore, PS4 firmware update 5.0 also allows customization for the notification interface. The notification previews in pop-ups can now be turned off entirely while watching a movie and users can also change the colors of the notification.

The update also brings changes to friends and communities area as players are now able to assign friends to custom lists. Also, users will be able to follow accounts regardless of whether or not these accounts have been verified.

The update also brings something for the PSVR users. The update has included support for 5.1 and 7.1 channels in virtual surround through headphones while users watch Blu-Rays in the Cinematic mode. The update has also introduced changes to the Quick Menu, these changes add more options to the quick menu that will not require for a user to exit the game to change them.

In related news, Sony has announced that it will be making big new PS4 games announcements at Paris Games Week which starts later this month. Also, it is unclear whether these games will be multi-platform ot PlayStation exclusive titles.
