One of the most interesting dates for the fall launch season is November 10 when gamers will be able to get access to both Fallout 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider, two big titles that are arriving at the same time despite a tendency for big publishers to keep their titles as separate as possible.

The new Lara Croft title is created by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, but the fact that it initially arrives only on the Xbox One means that the release date was decided by Microsoft and the company apparently had to face some tough choices.
Aaron Greenberg, one of the leading executives at the company, explains on a podcast quoted by NeoGAF that his team basically had to choose which major titles of the fall Rise of the Tomb Raider will be pitted against.
He states, "If you go earlier you are against Star Wars Battlefront, if you go later you will be against Call of Duty Black Ops 3, and if you go two weeks earlier you are against Halo 5: Guardians. And then you go late and then you are like does the consumer has any money left to buy the game, so there wasn’t a better scenario for us except that was the week it was not going head to head against Call of Duty or Star Wars Battlefront."
Because Fallout 4 delivers a very different kind of experience, Microsoft chose to launch Rise of the Tomb Raider on the same date and believes that many players will pick up both titles, despite the fact that one arrives on just one platform.
Lara Croft is headed to Siberia

Ubisoft has recently circumvented a similar problem for Assassin's Creed Syndicate by launching it worldwide on a Friday, a move that makes it easier to avoid dates that are already occupied by big titles.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is designed as a full sequel to the reboot of the series and will take Lara Croft to Siberia, where she is searching for a mythical city called Kitezh, which is supposed to hold a secret related to immortality.
Gamers will have to deal with the hostile environment and with human enemies linked to an organization called Trinity in order to get the clues she needs and uncover the settlement, which was created in the XIII century.
Crystal Dynamics says that it has refined all the core ideas of the Tomb Raider series and has added more combat and movement options for the character, including swimming.
Improvised weapons and gear, delivered via an improved crafting system, are more important than ever in the harsh Siberian environment.
Lara Croft will also be able to explore much bigger tombs than before, although they are not central to the story of the game.
Rise of the Tomb Raider also features a competitive system that allows gamers to complete with friends for leaderboard position and to unlock special cards that can tweak the gameplay of the title in interesting ways.
