Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – How to unlock the Secret Nuclear Disarmament Event

Konami has finally revealed details on how to unlock the secret ‘Nuclear Disarmament’ event in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. A video of the event was previously leaked to Youtube via the PC version’s game files. Since then, Konami has remained silent regarding the requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to trigger the sequence. The silence has now been broken, as the developer has provided information on the conditions that need to be met for this secret event.

The requirements for unlocking the secret ‘Nuclear Disarmament’ event in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain can be seen below.

  1. You must have completed Mission 31.
  2. You must not own or be currently developing a nuclear weapon. If you have any nukes in stock, you must dismantle them.
  3. Certain conditions related to nuclear proliferation must be met on the regional server for your corresponding gaming platform.
  4. All nuclear weapons on the regional server corresponding to your console or platform must have been dismantled. In other words, the amount of nukes on your platform’s server must be equal to 0.

Note that once all four conditions are met, you will automatically trigger the secret nuclear disarmament event when you return to Mother Base or after you complete a main mission. This event can also be repeated by fulfilling all four conditions again, once new nukes have been developed.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was launched on September 1 for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
