With Halo 3’s addition, all that remains to be added to The Master Chief Collection are Halo 4 and the spin-off Halo 3: ODST, both of which are slated to arrive later this year. Before that, however, several hints have been left to suggest that the PC version of Halo 3 would be arriving sooner rather than later. Just last month, the developers ran a beta test of Halo 3's well-regarded multiplayer components, and it has been revealed that the revamped version of the game will contain addition of jetpacks to the game's campaign, which was planned for the very first Halo but never fully implemented until Halo: Reach.

Fans won’t have to wait too long to play this updated version of the classic Halo 3, as the official Halo Twitter page just shared that the game will be added to the Steam port of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on July 14. The tweet (seen below) also contains a small teaser trailer for Halo 3, in which Master Chief’s AI companion Cortana explains why she picked the legendary super soldier as the Spartan she would accompany on his mission to save the universe, alongside the game’s unforgettable tagline of “Finish The Fight.”

Serving as the finale for the plotline that began in the original Halo, Halo 3 would be well-regarded among fans of the series, going on to become one of Metacritic’s best-ranked FPSes. While players were left disappointed by the game’s cliffhanger ending, they embraced its varied level design and fun multiplayer, which set the standard for the rest of the Halo series to come. There are even some great stories about the game’s most dedicated players, like one that famously cleared its hardest difficulty using a Guitar Hero guitar.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has brought many new fans into the vast universe of Microsoft's iconic sci-fi shooter franchise, along with vast technical improvements to the games themselves. Therefore, the addition of Halo 3 is an exciting development for players hoping to play the series' most-beloved title either again or for the first time. Fans will get the chance to strap on Master Chief's famous helmet once again when Halo 3 joins Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam next week.
