The release of Grand Theft Auto V is just days away, and Game Informer has released details on the much-anticipated online component in the latest iteration of the historic series from Rockstar Games.

Right off the bat in their six-page feature of the online mode in their October issue, Game Informer tells everyone that Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies claims that their are more than 500 missions, separate from the single-player mode, included in GTA V online.

The reason the missions are separate is because the events of GTA Online take place before those of GTA V.

But why so many missions in the online mode that will become available on October 1 for download?

“We wanted a world where people could spend years without getting bored of playing the same content over and over,” Benzies told GI.

How exactly does the “match making” work with GTA V? According to Benzies, the game will first look to join you up with friends before finding similar players of your skill level to match you with. That is, of course, if you choose to play with random players.

“We’ve set Grand Theft Auto Online to be as customizable as possible,” Benzies said. “You can lock down your games to only let the players you want in there. There are options to let the game decide who to play with — tell it to auto-fill the game and it will search the world for friends, your crew, or suitably skilled players.”
