Paradox Interactive, the team behind Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis, has announced Stellaris, a new grand strategy game set in space.

This is in fact the first grand strategy game from Paradox that is set in the future rather than the past. According to the press release, Stellaris will be "about more than just building empires in the skies."

There will be heavy emphasis on exploration and science, as well as a dynamic decision system. You will be able to explore thousands of planets across procedurally-generated star systems, and encounter randomly-generated races while travelling on your customizable ships.
