Ubisoft released the PC system requirements for the upcoming open-world first-person shooter Far Cry 4, together with a nice video showing exactly what to expect if you have a powerful computer to run it.

Back when Ubisoft released Far Cry 3, the PC platform was considered the best one to enjoy it on, and the game was praised for running so well on PCs, and it seems that the company is trying to have history repeat itself with Far Cry 4.

Far Cry 3 was definitely among the best games of 2012, and Ubisoft is apparently pushing the envelope even further with the next installment in the series. While the third entry was criticized by many gamers for the way the open-world elements were separated from the main story, causing a feeling of disconnection, the fourth sets out to marry those two and offer emergent gameplay moments that will provide a more organic transition through the game world.

The game throws you in the midst of a full-blown civil war, in a fictional mountainous region based on the Himalayas, and lets you do your own thing, with several overarching narrative threads for you to unfold and pursue at your leisure.

Ubisoft revealed Far Cry 4's minimum requirements, and they don't seem as prohibitive as the ones revealed for Assassin's Creed Unity do. Granted, that's a new-gen only video game, and this one will also be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but it's still a massive undertaking.

Minimum System Requirements:

OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8/8.1 (64-bit versions only)

Processor: Intel Core i5-750 @ 2.6 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.2 GHz

Memory: 4GB

Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 with 1GB or more of VRAM

Direct X: Version 11

Hard Drive: 30GB available space

Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card with latest drivers

Granted, if you want to experience the game at 1920x1080 resolution, at a smooth framerate, with the same (or even better) visuals as on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 home consoles, you'll need a more powerful machine.

Recommended System Requirements

Processor: Intel Core i5-2400S @ 2.5 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz or better

Memory: 8GB

Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 with 2GB or more of VRAM

Of course, the PC version of Far Cry 4 will enable you to crank up the details even further, but that will also come at a price, mainly translating into a high-end graphics card.

As evidenced in the video below, turning on all the GameWorks technologies and everything else will allow you to experience an even more immersive journey through the sprawling mountainous game world, with the trailer highlighting how each of the settings impacts the quality of the game's graphics.

Furthermore, Nvidia currently has a promotion that offers you your choice of Assassin's Creed Unity, Far Cry 4 or The Crew, with the purchase of some of its video cards. In case you're looking for more information on the promotion, head over to the GeForce website.
