Many video game publishers are unwilling to make official announcements about their plans for their biggest franchises, but they seem very much ready to reveal details when talking to investors and those who control the financial markets.

Electronic Arts has sent chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen to speak at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, and he has stated that his company is planning to launch both a new Battlefield video game and Titanfall 2 during the third quarter of the current fiscal year.
This probably means that both the titles will be live before Christmas, presumably one at some point in October and another in November to maximize the commercial opportunities for both franchises.
Blake Jorgensen states, according to NeoGAF, "Both of those are first-person shooters and will be targeted around the fast, action driven shooter market, as well as the strategy driven market in that quarter."
The CFO has explained that both these titles are important for the future of Electronic Arts, but has not given the Morgan Stanley organized conference any details about the kinds of mechanics that they are planning to introduce in the two high-profile video games.
Presumably, official reveals for both the experiences will be made during the event that the publisher is planning to organize for the fans during the same period as E3 2016.
Battlefield might go back to World War I The late reveal for the two major launches means that there's plenty of time left for interested gamers to listen to rumors and search for small pieces of info that can give them clues about the future of the franchises.
Sources are currently saying that the team at DICE working on the new Battlefield is aiming to surprise the player base by moving the action back to World War I, a conflict dominated by trenches and complex small unit tactics.
They would be a good fit for the first-person franchise, but it's unclear whether there are enough players who are interested in such a historical setting.
The team at Respawn Entertainment that's working on Titanfall 2 has also been quiet about the video game that they are working on. However, the writer who is creating the narrative has explained that, this time around, there are plans to deliver a solid single-player campaign that will explore themes related to the American Civil War and the limits of power in the space-faring age.
There are also hints that the multiplayer mechanics, which are focused on the gameplay differences between fast and nimble pilots and powerful and slow Titans, will be tweaked.
Both Titanfall 2 and the new Battlefield will probably be offered on the PC, the Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4, although platforms will only be revealed when the official announcements are made.
Electronic Arts has a range of other big projects that it plans to reveal in 2016, including the way it intends to handle the Star Wars universe in the future and how it will make the new Andromeda appeal to fans of the Mass Effect series.
