BY TRISTAN OGILVIEClosing out Sony's E3 2015 press conference (and after a slightly cringe-inducing false start), a brand-new stretch of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End gameplay was demonstrated.

The action-heavy level saw series hero Nathan Drake reunited with his mentor Sully, who teamed up for a shootout in the crowded hillside market stalls of what appeared to be a South American city, before they both sped off in a downhill chase in a mud-covered jeep.

Drake displayed some brand new combat moves, including a spectacular flying punch that saw him knock an enemy down and catch their discarded gun in the one movement.

The world itself looks far more open than fans have come to expect from previous Uncharted games, and the level of environmental destruction appears to have been ratcheted up to new heights – particularly in the market stall section of the demo which saw almost everything splintering into pieces under a hail of bullets.

Elsewhere a riot van complete with a deadly turret gun crashed through a wall to block the heroes' path, forcing them to scramble through a hotel and out onto rooftops.

The final part of the demo saw the two weaving down the winding streets to the seaside below – with the enemy riot van in hot pursuit – culminating with Nate and Sully chasing down Nate's brother Sam, who the pair spot speeding away from an enemy convoy on a motorcycle.

We got our first look at Uncharted 4: A Thief's End at the PlayStation Experience in 2014, where we learned Troy Baker would play Nathan Drake's brother. Naughty Dog and Sony recently revealed that Bluepoint Games would be upgrading the first three Uncharted games for The Nathan Drake Collection, arriving this October.
