The team at From Software working on Dark Souls 2 is announcing that it is currently planning to take down the online servers for both the core game and the Scholar of the First Sin expansion on May 31 in order to perform some maintenance on them.

On Sunday, May 31 gamers in North America will be unable to connect starting at 18 PM Pacific Daylight Time for a period of three hours, and those in Europe will be affected from 3 AM on Monday, June 1 to 6 AM Central European Summer Time.

The official announcement from the development team does not offer any sort of details on the changes that might be made to the online experience when maintenance takes place.

Presumably, a full list of patch notes, if they are required, will be delivered for the community after the downtime is done.

From Software has not said for how long it is planning to continue to offer support for Dark Souls 2 and for Scholar of the First Sin.

The studio is at the moment working on a major new update for their recently launched Bloodborne, and an expansion for the title is also in the development and will arrive at some point this year.
