Remember the EVE Online monument unveiled late last month to coincide with 2014's annual EVE Online Fanfest? Yep, it's already been vandalised - and CCP has issued permanent in-game bans to the perpetrators.

"The fact that the monument was vandalized is an insult to the entire community, not just to the individual who's name was directly targeted by the vandalism," said a community manager on the EVE Online forums. "Thankfully with the assistance of a number of members of the community, including some of those who were involved with the incident and other members of their own alliance, we've been able to make headway in identifying those responsible."

Three players have been permanently removed from the EVE community, with a total of seven EVE accounts and one DUST 514 account being banned in-game. A fourth player with "indirect" involvement in the vandalism has received a six-month ban.

All four are also permanently blacklisted from attending future Fanfest events. Citing privacy policies, CCP has declined to name the people responsible.

"We do not tolerate this kind of behavior and will continue to operate a zero tolerance approach to dealing with harassment and victimization in the EVE Universe," says CCP.

The monument has the engraved names of every player active as of March 1, 2014.

EVE Online is still going strong after nearly 11 years; it surpassed half-a-million subscribers in February 2013 and caused a buzz this past January when $200,000 worth of in-game damage was done.
