One of the most appealing traits of the Battlefield franchise is the amount of people that can play in an online match. That appeal isn’t changing with Battlefield Hardline, which takes the Battlefield series to the streets of LA and Miami, while aiming to give players a new way to play cops and robbers.

Sometime last year, shortly after its initial Hardline beta, Electronic Arts and Visceral Games opted to delay the game and use the additional time to further develop and innovate on the title. Seeing as how a lot of fans were unhappy with Battlefield 4, Hardline taking more time to avoid a similar situation was welcomed relatively well. If anything, the developers have assured fans that the game will ‘work’ at launch, as opposed to everyone expecting it to fall apart like a few games from last year.

Visceral notes that its community and their feedback are instrumental to the development of Hardline, as supported by the last open beta for the game and its resulting effect. Next month, from February 3 to February 8, EA and Visceral are giving people yet another opportunity to influence the game via a second open beta – coming to PC (through Origin), PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One; no one gets left out.

According to Steve Papoutsis, General Manager of Visceral Games and Executive Producer for Battlefield Hardline, players are encouraged to “play the hell out of the beta.” So, basically, break the beta and let someone know about it.

“There’s nothing more valuable to our team than the relationship we have with our community. Their passion feeds our passion and their feedback has definitely helped make Hardline a better game. We want them to play the hell out of the beta next week and trust that they’ll keep that feedback coming so we can continue to fine tune the game.”

The beta this time around will offer four playable modes – Hotwire, Conquest, Heist and Hacker – and three maps – Downtown, Dust Bowl and Bank Job. Hotwire, however, can only be played on the first two maps, Conquest on Dust Bowl, and Heist on the Bank Job map. The final game mode, Hacker, which gives one player on each team the ability to hack the map in various ways, can be played on any of the maps. It’s the first time the mode has been playable, so take notes.

Outside of the available modes and maps, the beta will also introduce new weapons and gadgets like the grappling hook and zipline. Both of which can be seen in action in the above video. Carve six minutes out of the day and check it out if you’re exciting to get back into Battlefield, or you need some motivation to do so.

Battlefield Hardline releases March 17, 2015 in North America, March 19 in Europe, and March 20 in the UK on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
