The development team at DICE says that, at the moment, Battlefield 4 is experiencing some connectivity issues for both servers and the Battlelog service and that they are investigating the problem and are hoping to deliver a fix for it as quickly as possible.

The information comes from the official Twitter account of the company and also contains an apology for the community that is at the moment unable to connect to matches or work on their characters.

Battlefield 4 might not attract as many players as more recent launches, but the fans still appreciate its mechanics and are expecting to be able to connect quickly and easily.

At the moment, a team at the Los Angeles office of DICE is working on a final piece of downloadable content for the first-person shooter, called The Final Stand, which is set to introduce a new game mode, more maps set in the Russian Arctic and a variety of futuristic weapons for gamers to use during battles.

The launch date has not yet been revealed, and until that happens, the developers are testing a range of gameplay tweaks that are available on the official test servers and will be part of future updates.

The team at DICE has shifted a lot of its resources to the creation of Star Wars Battlefront and it is also helping Visceral Games to put the finishing touches on Battlefield Hardline.

Battlefield needs to evolve in innovative ways

Battlefield 4 has faced a range of issues on launch and both DICE and Electronic Arts quickly apologized for them and delivered patches to improve the situation, but many fans remained disappointed.

Since then, DLC has been offered and the core gameplay mechanics have been tweaked in order to make them more appealing to long-term fans.

The Community Test Environment has also been introduced in order to show the community that the team cares about their opinions on the way the shooter should work.

Electronic Arts has always maintained that the sales and the brand of Battlefield 4 were not affected in any way by the launch trouble.

A rumor which appeared during the last month suggests that a fifth full title in the series will be launched at some point during the holiday of 2016 and might introduce some major innovations.

Until then, EA and DICE are aiming to make sure that both Hardline and Star Wars Battlefront have solid launches with no issues and bugs.
