Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – First Screenshots Leaked Online

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey reminds me of a colander at the moment. There doesn’t seem to be a day without something about the game leaking to the public. Yesterday the game’s description and logo were leaked on the PSN store. Today an even bigger leak in the form of fifteen screenshots of the upcoming title.

Two days in a row, with this new leak coming on the eve of the press conference that was going to reveal all something about the game. It seems that Odyssey is just as leaky as the Spartans following the battle of Thermopylae. Which is quite an apt link when you consider the fact that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will have you forge your own path to become a Spartan hero.

There does seem to have quite a bit in common with Origins with a few things brought in from older titles. Thanks to the size and scope of the map, plus the fact that it has a lot of ocean, large ships are back from Black Flag. You’ve got a bird-friend brought over from Origins, meaning you’ll hardly have any issues when scouting enemy camps again.

What is strange is just how little this has reportedly got to do with assassinating or, for that matter, creeding. Sure, you’ll do your fair share of killing and stabbing people, but rumors so far indicate the assassins and templars are nowhere to be found.
Then again, Ubisoft managed to put them into Origins with ‘The Hidden Ones’ and ‘The Order of Ancients’. The same groups could be found here.

As for the game’s actual description:

"Take control of your destiny and write your own epic odyssey as you journey to become a legendary Spartan hero. Live incredible adventures in a world where every choice matters. Rejected by your family, you must embark on an adventure from outcast mercenary to legendary Spartan hero to uncover the truth about your past."

I won’t lie and say I’m a little disappointed that Ubisoft are releasing another main Assassin’s Creed game so soon. Origins really benefitted from the break and Odyssey could have done the same. That doesn’t mean that it won’t be good though.

You’ll be able to see the full release at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference set for tomorrow.
