NBC’s upcoming 4-hour mini-series remake of “Rosemary’s Baby” has found its pregnant star in Zoe Saldana, currently playing the deadliest woman in the universe in James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.” She won’t be quite as dangerous here, what with the carrying a child inside her and all.

The actress has been tapped to front the network TV remake, and will play the titular Rosemary, “the iconic young wife and would-be mother who, with her husband, moves into a Paris apartment that has a darkly storied past. After finally getting pregnant, she becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their mysterious neighbors have ulterior motives about the future of her child.”

NBC couldn’t be happier about the casting, with network guy Quinn Taylor saying:

Zoe has proven that she is one of our most gifted actresses and we think she has the perfect combination of spirit and gravitas to take on the title role from Ira Levin’s infamous novel. With Zoe leading the cast under the direction of Agnieszka Holland, this reimagined event mini-series is off to a great start.

The 1968 Roman Polanski original starred Mia Farrow in the role, and co-starred John Cassavetes as the shady hubby.

“In Darkness” director Agnieszka Holland will helm the remake from a script by Scott Abbott and James Wong, with production set to begin shortly on location in Paris.
