As hard as it may be to believe, itís already been three years since Frozen hit theaters and everyone collectively started singing "Let It Go." In the time since the filmís release, Frozen has gone on to become a modern classic in the realm of animation, prompting many of us to wonder when Disney would bring us a follow-up. We know Frozen 2 will eventually hit theaters, but the wait has become tedious to say the least. According to Kristen Bell: Disney is taking its time to make sure it gets the sequel just right.

Sitting down for an interview with Collider, actress Kristen Bell explained that she has not yet begun her voice work as Anna for the upcoming Frozen 2 because Disney has taken their time developing the sequel:
Weíre just about to. Theyíve just written it and theyíre still doing tweaks, but I think we should be recording this month. The story is great, and they exude quality. What I know about that whole team is that they wouldnít just put something out to put it out. Thatís why it took them so long to even announce that we were doing a second one. Generally when you have a first successful movie you want to make a second one. It took them a while because they wanted to figure out what story they needed to tell and what would be important and engaging and I think they found it.
While Frozen 2 is most certainly on the way, itís taking a long time because the folks at Disney want to make sure they craft the best possible story. As Kristen Bell explains, they didnít want to rush a sequel to Frozen because they wanted to ensure that the filmís quality will live up to the reputation of the original film. Frozen told a particularly engaging and groundbreaking Disney narrative about sisterhood and feminist ideals. It received immense praise for its portrayal of its lead female characters, and the filmmakers need to make sure that whatever story they set forth on during the events of Frozen 2 remains faithful to the progress they made in the first installment.

Of course, thereís also the fact that Disney has kept busy following the release of Frozen in 2013. Between other animated features like Big Hero 6 and the recent Zootopia, the studio doesnít exactly need to rely on sequels in order to generate audience enthusiasm. Frozen 2 may be taking a long time, but the studio has kept us more than satisfied with their original content over the last three years.

We will keep you up to date regarding any and all important details related to the upcoming production of Frozen 2. For now, be sure to check out Disneyís latest critically acclaimed animated feature, Zootopia, which is currently in theaters.
