As Warner Bros.’ plans for the DC Comics Justice League cinematic universe take shape, the focus is turning to an as-yet unseen member of the group. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has Gangster Squad’s Will Beall and 300: Rise Of An Empire’s Kurt Johnstad working on two different versions of a script for the Aquaman.

The hope is that one – or both, if the concepts are mashed together – could end up as the script for an Aquaman film, one that could presumably slotted into the studio’s planned batch of release dates, which it recently marked out through to 2020. Beall, at least, has form with the DC canon, as he was hired to write a version of the Justice League screenplay before the current plan rolled out.

Created in 1941 by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger, Aquaman has been a part of the Justice League team since it began in 1960. A veteran of the Silver Age, he’s often been portrayed as the ruler of Atlantis, and boasts incredible strength, power swimming and the ability to both live easily beneath the waves and communicate with marine life.

Entourage fans delighted by this whole report should rein in their glee for the moment, however. Warners has yet to confirm anything, although Jason Momoa is believed to be the man for the job after reports that he will at least cameo in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and appear in the planned Justice League film, which could then launch him into a solo adventure. Dawn Of Justice, meanwhile, hits UK screens on April 29, 2016.
