DANNY John-Jules received the first 10 of the series on tonight's Strictly Come Dancing.

The Red Dwarf actor danced an incredible Jive to Flip, Flop and Fly with his partner, Amy Dowden.

Despite being the oldest celebrity in the competition at 57, Danny had the energy of a man half his age as he kicked and flicked his way around the dance floor.

His efforts paid off as he received a standing ovation from the audience and high praise from the judges.

Guest judge Alfonso Ribeiro - who was standing in for Bruno Tonioli this week - told the couple: "You came out, you had fun, that was flying right there.

"The feet were sharp, the energy was there.

"You got down into the floor, Mother Earth is where the power comes from, you used it that time baby."

Craig Revel Horwood went as far as to say: "I think that is a dance...for the final."

Meanwhile Darcey told the shocked pair: "I have to get up and applaud you, it was extraordinary."

The praise kept coming, as head judge Shirley Ballas said: "You broke the seal today and you're on your way up, that was absolutely amazing!"

It was reflected in the scores, as he received nines from Craig, Shirley and Alfonso, but got the first 10 of the series from Darcey.

However Danny admitted he had "never been more glad for a dance to finish" as he tried to catch his breath.

While Danny finished top of the leaderboard, Vick Hope found herself at the bottom with 20 points while Seann Walsh was just above her with 24 points.
