Steven Spielberg: "Peter Jackson will soon work on the continuation of the Adventures of Tintin"

On a tour for Ready Player One, King Spielberg reassures impatient tintinophiles.

Steven Spielberg was this week in London for the promo of Ready Player One , his giga-blockbuster that kneads forty years of pop culture to propel them in the future. We took the opportunity to ask him news of the continuation of the Adventures of Tintin, that must realize Peter Jackson but who ended up becoming a true sea serpent. Released in 2011, The Adventures of Tintin: the Secret of the Unicorn was supposed to be the first part of a trilogy of films featuring the little Belgian reporter. But this first episode has not been a huge success in North America and Peter Jackson has been very busy in recent years with the Hobbit saga. This week, however, Spielberg wanted reassurance:

"Peter Jackson has to do the second part. Normally, if all goes well, he will soon start working on the script. As it takes two years of animation work on the film, for you, I would not expect to see it for about three years. But Peter will stick to it. Tintin is not dead!"

The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun should mix two Hergé albums, The Seven Crystal Balls and The Temple of the Sun, in the same way that the first episode intertwined The Secret of the Unicorn, The Crab with the Golden Claws and The Red Rackham Treasure. While waiting for Tintin 2 to become a reality, Peter Jackson must also complete a documentary dedicated to the First World War, announced at the end of the year on the BBC.
