As theories abound regarding the identity of the new killer, a Scream 6 video has arrived teasing the film's various returning characters may be the latest Ghostface. The next chapter in the beloved horror franchise will see the returns of Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Hayden Panettiere and Courteney Cox as the various survivors of prior Ghostface killings trying to move on with their lives in New York City, only for a new string of killings to begin perpetrated by someone donning the mask. Once again helmed by Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, Scream 6 is set to arrive in early March, almost a year after its predecessor sliced its way to critical and commercial success.

With just over a month remaining until its release, the official Twitter account for the Scream franchise has released a new Scream 6 video.

The short video features the various returning characters, as well as franchise newcomer Josh Segarra, standing in an empty stage donning an ominous pair of black gloves and wielding the infamous hunting knife frequently used in the Ghostface killings. Paired with the caption "Keep your eyes open and your blades clean," the Scream 6 video is seemingly teasing one or multiple returning characters could be the new Ghostface. As is tradition, theories are already being discussed as to who could be the new face or faces under the Ghostface mask in Scream 6. One of the more unique ideas is that Ortega's Tara, scarred by her attacks and friends' deaths in 2022's Scream, has become the latest killer due to a psychotic break, an understandable evolution given all she was put through in the prior film. Additionally, with her macabre, yet still heroic, turn in Netflix's hit Wednesday series, there has been some interest in seeing the young actor go full villain for the upcoming sequel.

Another major candidate for the potential new Ghostface in Scream 6 has been that of Barrera's Sam Carpenter, with her familiar connection to Billy Loomis being cited as the key explanation for her turn to darkness in the upcoming sequel. The Scream 6 trailer seemed to drop a number of hints towards this being the case, even with as subtle as her tilting her head in a heated scene similarly to every Ghostface seen thus far. However, some theories have also pointed towards Panettiere's Kirby potentially using her new job as a seeming FBI agent as a cover for her being one of Scream 6's Ghostfaces.

While there are plenty of theories surrounding the returning characters, Scream 6's fresh faces have similarly drawn suspicion. Tony Revolori's Gabe has been the most discussed new character to don the new Ghostface mantle, as he would not only continue the series' trend of taking comedic actors and turning them into killers, but his brief appearance in the Scream 6 trailer also highlighting his love of movies, a major Ghostface trademark. Only time will tell who the new killer or killers may be when Scream 6 hits theaters on March 10.
