Dream is on a journey to restore his kingdom in a new The Sandman trailer. Based on Neil Gaiman's Vertigo comics of the same name, the story centers on Morpheus, the king of dreams and one of the seven Endless beings, who is summoned and trapped by the charlatan occultist, Sir Roderick Burgess. After over a century of imprisonment, Dream escapes and discovers his kingdom of the Dreaming is decaying and his artifacts of power spread across universes, requiring him to turn to his siblings and allies in the hopes of restoring his home.

Tom Sturridge is leading the ensemble cast of The Sandman in the titular role alongside Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Jenna Coleman, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park and David Thewlis. Neil Gaiman has developed the series with David S. Goyer, who was previously attached to adapt the source comics to film, and Wonder Woman's Allan Heinberg. After 30 years of development, The Sandman is gearing up to hit Netflix this summer and audiences are getting a new glimpse at what's to come from the series.

As part of San Diego Comic-Con, Netflix has unveiled the a new The Sandman trailer poster. The video offers a deeper look at the long-awaited adaptation of Neil Gaiman's graphic novels and Dream's quest to restore his kingdom of the Dreaming after being trapped for over a century and the fantastical worlds he visits for help, as well as his terrifying nemesis The Corinthian. Check out the trailer and poster below:

First appearing in The Sandman No. 10, The Corinthian was revealed to be a nightmare created by Dream who escaped the Kingdom of the Dreaming after Morpheus was captured in the occult ritual. The Corinthian would become a serial killer in the real world, removing his victim's eyes to appear similar to himself. As seen in The Sandman trailer, The Corinthian generally hides his terrifying appearance of having two rows of jagged teeth within his eye sockets under dark sunglasses.

With its reveal of The Corinthian's terrifying comics-accurate look, The Sandman trailer offers further confirmation of the show's dedication to accurately adapting Gaiman's source material for the screen, and decent insight to which comics the series will pull from, given Corinthian was primarily seen in The Doll's House. In addition to Boyd Holbrook's antagonist, the trailer also offers an exciting first glimpse of Mervyn Pumpkinhead, who was recently confirmed to be voiced by Mark Hamill for the series, while the first bit of Patton Oswalt's voice was revealed as Matthew the Raven. The wait for Netflix's The Sandman is nearly over as the series premieres on August 5.
