Fox is looking to Riki Lindhome for its next comedy.

The network has handed out a script-plus-penalty commitment to the single-camera comedy Tails, written by and starring actress and comedian Lindhome.

Tails follows Erika (Lindhome), a woman in her late 30s who, despite the pressure she feels from the world around her, refuses to settle in any area of her life.

In addition to starring, Lindhome will pen the script alongside Monica Padrick (Community). Both will executive produce alongside Amy Poehler and her Universal Television-backed Paper Kite banner and 3 Arts' Dave Becky. Kim Lessing will produce.

Lindhome is best known for Comedy Central's Another Period, a recurring role on CBS' The Big Bang Theory and as one-half of the musical comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates. She most recently appeared on Showtime's Jim Carrey comedy Kidding. Lindhome is repped by WME, 3 Arts and Ginsburg Daniels.

Padrick, meanwhile, is currently writing for Apple's upcoming animated series Central Park from Bob's Burgers creator Loren Bouchard. She is with WME, Odenkirk Provissiero and Jackoway Austen.

Poehler, for her part, continues to be a prolific developer. Her Paper Kite banner includes the NBC freshman comedy I Feel Bad; the Adult Swim pilot Three Busy Debras;the Netflix comedy series Russian Doll, starring Natasha Lyonne; and the upcoming final season of the Comedy Central staple Broad City. Poehler also co-hosts and exec produces the NBC competition series Making It, which has already been renewed for a second season at the network that was home to her long-running Parks and Recreation. She will next star, produce and make her directorial debut in the Netflix comedy Wine Country. Poehler is with WME, 3 Arts and Sloan Offer.

Tails arrives as Fox, which is poised to become an independent broadcast network, has committed to buying half of its development from studios outside of Disney-bound 20th Century Fox Television.
