Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi epic Interstellar is coming this November, with all the promise and expectation one would expect from a hard-science fiction/space epic from the acclaimed director of The Dark Knight trilogy.

We’re about three weeks out from the film’s debut, and have TV spots, trailers, and a featurette focusing on the wormhole theories of Kip Thorne, the theoretical physicist whose work informed Nolan’s plot. Famous pilot Coop (Matthew McConaughey) leads a team of astronauts including Brand (Anne Hathaway), Doyle (Wes Bentley), and Principal (David Oyelowo) into deep space via a recently-discovered wormhole in the hopes of finding a hospitable planet to colonize.

Meanwhile, every hour the team in space spends on their desperate quest translates into years back on an increasingly-uninhabitable Earth, making their mission the final hope for humanity’s survival. A new TV spot for Interstellar, which you can watch above, features much of the same footage from previous spots, re-packaged into an intense thirty seconds.

With a running time of nearly three hours, Interstellar is Nolan’s longest film to date, and will undoubtedly prove itself to be the epic most fans are counting on seeing. This new spot ditches all of the past trailers’ sense of mystery, boiling down the movie’s story into an easily-digestible series of plot points: the planet is dying; they need to find a new home; the population may be dead before they get back.

This spot wraps Nolan’s film into what appears to be the type of adrenaline-fueled action flick that will draw crowds, but is it an accurate representation? The earlier trailers focused on the more Kubrickian aspects of Interstellar: a relatively grounded, “realistic” take on space travel and an introspective approach to such grand themes.

Still, marketing is marketing, and while this spot may promise something straightforward and action-orientated – elements which undoubtedly appear – this is a Christopher Nolan movie, and nothing is what it seems. Expect plenty of promotional material to appear in the next few weeks, but the movie’s secrets are bound to remain intact.

Interstellar will open in U.S. theaters on November 7th, 2014.
