The Alien series can get, for lack of a better term, pretty weird. With chest bursting creatures, androids that look like they bleed milk and even a human/xenomorph hybrid that haunted our dreams for several years after Alien: Resurrection, there's a lot that the franchise can do with a simple image. And yet, the latest image for Alien: Covenant is not as outlandish as any of those things, but it's certainly just as surreal and weird. Take a look at what could be our first look at Michael Fassbender's Walter in the photo, included below.

Thanks to the Twitter feed for Alien: Covenant, we have a photo of Fassbender sitting at a piano, shoeless and ready to play us a tune. Whether it's something jaunty like Rocketman or Life on Mars, or something a lot more sinister, remains to be seen. What can be seen though is the fact that this variant of Michael Fassbender has his usual darker hair color, which has us believing that this is Walter, another more "helpful" synthetic that the actor will be playing in Ridley Scott's latest entry in the Alien series. That is, of course, unless David has decided to go to a different hair color in the time that's passed between installments.

Of course, all of this talk about Alien: Covenant over this past week has worked up fans to demand one, very important thing from 20th Century Fox: a trailer. While we were party to some early footage from next summer's would-be blockbuster, as well as the fact that the release date and poster were bumped up around Thanksgiving, it's no-brainer that the fans will be clamoring for their first look at the footage from what's promising to be bloodier and more horrific than any Alien film we've seen since the original. Sadly, there's no real intel as to when this will be happening, but if the fates allow, it'd be nice of a Xenomorph dressed like Santa could come down the chimney known as the internet to deliver some footage as an extra special Christmas present.

For now, all we have are the photographic glimpses we've been given into the world of Alien: Covenant, and that alone has us excited about the possibilities. We'll have to wait and see what the future brings in terms of marketing material, but at the very least, Michael Fassbender fans will be pleased to see more of the man in the robotic flesh. Though you can always see him in Assassin's Creed this weekend, unless you want to wait until Alien: Covenant's May 19th, 2017 release date. We're not saying you have to, all we're saying is you have options.
