The true-crime movie from Liz Garbus has also cast Gabriel Byrne, Oona Laurence, Reed Birney, Miriam Shor, Kevin Corrigan and Rosal Colon.

Netflix is filling out the cast of Lost Girls, the narrative feature debut of Oscar-nominated documentarian Liz Garbus.

Joining Amy Ryan in the true-crime story is Sundance breakout Thomasin McKenzie (Leave No Trace), Gabriel Byrne (Maniac), Lola Kirke (Mozart in the Jungle), Oona Laurence (Bad Moms), Reed Birney (House of Cards), Dean Winters (Divorce), Miriam Shor (Younger), Kevin Corrigan (The Get Down) and Rosal Colon (Orange is the New Black).

The streaming giant picked up the project earlier this year, after it'd been in development at Amazon Studios with Sarah Paulson attached to star. Based on the book by Robert Kolker, Lost Girls will be produced by Anne Carey (20th Century Women) of Archer Gray and Kevin McCormick (The Goldfinch) and his Langley Park Pictures. Garbus, Carrie Fix, Vinay Singh, Amy Nauiokas and Rory Koslow will executive produce, with Michael Werwie (Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile) penning the script.

The story, described as both a true-crime story and a strong character piece, follows Mari Gilbert (Ryan) as she relentlessly drives law enforcement agents to search for her missing daughter and, in the process, sheds light on a wave of unsolved murders of young female sex workers on the South Shore barrier islands of Long Island.

"I was lucky enough to spend time with Mari Gilbert before her death to discuss our project, her hopes, and her ongoing pursuit of justice. My hope is that Lost Girls honors Mari's memory and continues her fight for justice and truth, a fight she shared with so many women whose stories are part of this film.”

The role will require McKenzie, next seen in Jojo Rabbit, to have to drop out of theTop Gun sequel, which she had been previously attached to this summer. The New Zealand native is repped by UTA, Untitled Entertainment, Industry Entertainment and Gail Cowan Management Ltd.

Kirke is with ICM Partners and One Entertainment. Shor is repped by Impression Entertainment, Gersh and Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin & Dunham. Byrne is with Paradigm and The Agency. Laurence is repped by UTA and Zoom Talent Management. Birney is with Suskin Management. Corrigan is repped by Innovative Artists, Untitled Entertainment and Kraditor & Haber. Colon is with Abrams Artists Agency, Authentic Talent and Literary Management and Felker Toczek.
