Netflix has set the full cast for The Society, its upcoming young adult drama series inspired by the classic novel Lord of the Flies. Published in 1954, William Golding's Lord of the Flies tells the story of a group of teenage boys stranded together on a deserted island without adults, and how the kids form themselves into a primitive society. A high school staple (and particular favorite of Stephen King), the book was adapted into a film in 1963 and then again in 1990. It also had the honor of being memorably parodied by The Simpsons.

In Netflix's new spin on Golding's classic premise, a group of well-to-do young people from modern-day New England find themselves mysteriously transported to an exact facsimile of their town, but their parents are nowhere to be found. Just as in Lord of the Flies, the young people begin forming dangerous alliances as they struggle to survive in their new world. The project is not the same as the female-centric adaptation of Lord of the Flies that was recently announced to be in development at Warner Bros.

Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies) was previously announced to be heading up the cast of The Society in the role of Allie, and now Coming Soon has revealed the rest of the show's roster of actors. Legion star Rachel Keller heads up that cast in the role of Cassandra, Allie's more remarkable sister. Cassandra is described as "the most impressive amongst her peers" and "a natural leader." Keller is joined by Blockers star Gideon Adlon as Becca, a "mature, tough and adventurous" person who nevertheless spends her time hiding behind her camera.

Also joining The Society is Jacques Colimon (Pretty Little Liars) as Will, a foster kid who is an "outsider." Olivia DeJonge (The Visit) will play Elle, who has grown brittle from being a dance kid and must struggle to find herself in the new world. Slenderman's Alex Fitzalan plays Harry, the privileged kid who is thrust into the role of leader even though he's entirely unremarkable. Kristine Froseth (Apostle) plays Kelly, a Queen Bee who is "smart and has a firm moral compass." Jose Julian (Shameless) plays "smart and grounded" tech wiz Gordie, while Natasha Liu Bordizzo (The Greatest Showman) plays Helena, who suffers from deep-seated uncertainty despite her faith in God.

The rest of the Society cast will include Alex MacNicoll (Transparent) as Luke, the high school quarterback, together with Jack Mulhern (Locke & Key) as the poetic Grizz, Salena Qureshi (Madam Secretary) as Bean, Grace Victoria Cox (Heathers) as quirky Lexie, Sean Berdy (Switched at Birth) as Sam and Toby Wallace (Romper Stomper) as sociopathic Campbell. Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb and series co-creator Chris Keyser have assembled an intriguing cast for their updated take on Lord of the Flies, and it will be interesting to see what they have in store with their mysterious story.
