A brand new report has claimed that the ongoing production for Mission: Impossible 6 has been temporarily suspended due to Tom Cruise’s recent on-set accident. The long-running action-thriller franchise is known for executing death defying stunts and heart-pumping action scenes – a majority of it is personally done by its leading actor who plays capable spy Ethan Hunt in the films. But this is the first time that something as major as prompting filming to be shut down has happened if this new intel turns out to be true.
Mission: Impossible 6 has been quietly progressing with principal photography since April starting off in Paris, but other location shoots worldwide have been included in its several months-long filming like India, New Zealand, Norway and London where Cruise’s mishap happened. According to set reports, the veteran actor was trying to perform a building-jumping stunt when, unfortunately, he miscalculated his take-off, missed his mark, and hit the edge of the building pretty hard instead. Despite all that, he even tried to continue filming but stumbled on his run which was when the crew finally came in and assisted him off-camera.
From the surface, it does not look like Cruise got any serious injury from his daredevil stunt that went wrong. But according to a report from The Sun UK, Mission: Impossible 6 is halting its production due to the incident after finding out the severity of the injury. A supposed anonymous film insider said

The injury is worse than was at first feared. Tom did serious damage and will need months to recover. He is the film’s biggest star and everything revolves around him. The movie’s bosses had no choice other than to postpone the filming.
The Hollywood star is long known to perform his own action stunts in his films. In fact, he has always been game to up the stakes in his action set-pieces especially with the Mission: Impossible franchise. Among some of his death defying works from the famed movie series include hanging outside of a skyscraper in Dubai for Ghost Protocol and holding on to the side of a real, taxying cargo plane for Rogue Nation.
Cruise’s camp has remained mum on the actor’s status after his accident and no official statement has been released by Paramount Pictures regarding the supposed filming suspension, so by no means is this tip confirmed (or denied). Fans are advised to take this news with a grain of salt. However, shall this be the case, there is a huge possibility that filming rescheduling will result in a delay in Mission: Impossible 6‘s scheduled summer 2018 release date.
