Marvel Phase 4, 5 6 Get Official Title: Multiverse Saga

Marvel's next storytelling era is titled the Multiverse Saga and it will be composed of MCU Phases 4, 5, and 6. After the culmination of the Infinity Saga through Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the franchise is moving forward with the next chapter of its narrative. The MCU is known for playing the long game, and they once again lean on that as they rebuild the universe after the defeat of Thanos.

As MCU Phase 4 comes to an end with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Kevin Feige talked about Phase 5 during Marvel Studios' San Diego Comic-Con panel, but he also laid out what the universe is building towards in the next few years. The last time the franchise was in Hall H was in 2019, on the heels of the Infinity Saga. Much has happened since then, including the MCU's full expansion via Disney+. Between the shows and the movies, Marvel Studios' storytelling pace is noticeably faster than ever. So as Phase 4 reaches its end, Feige and his team are looking far beyond Phase 5 and planning out what this next era of storytelling will look like overall.

Following a full MCU Phase 5 slate, Feige kept the announcements coming with projects for Phase 6. In light of this, he also announced that Phases 4, 5, and 6 will be collectively called the Multiverse Saga. Marvel Studios has also released the official logo for it, check out the image below.

Feige didn't really get into revealing everything scheduled for Phase 6. Perhaps it's because some projects hinge on what goes down in the rest of Phase 4 and Phase 5. It's also possible that they are saving some announcements for D23 Expo and even Disney's Investor Day. What's most interesting, however, with how Marvel Studios is rebuilding the franchise is that the Multiverse Saga will only have two Avengers films. Granted that both of them release in the same year, that's a downgrade from the Infinity Saga which had four. It's likely that Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars will be the culmination of the Multiverse Saga, similar to how Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame functioned. It's curious if now Earth's Mightiest Heroes' outings are only reserved for big crossover events instead of focusing on its technical roster.

Interestingly, however, despite persistent rumors, not to mention clues from Marvel Studios, there hasn't been any mention of an X-Men project at SDCC. The Fantastic Four reboot will kick off Phase 6, but the mutant team's MCU debut remains unknown. Understandably, there was also no word about Tom Holland's next Spider-Man trilogy, or at least Spider-Man 4. Chances are that talking about these films is reserved for Sony, but it's still interesting to think where the web-slinger's next adventures will fit into the Multiverse Saga.
