New details about Kong: Skull Island have been revealed, shedding light on the movie's setting, story and cast of characters.

In an MTV sneak peek at the film's set, the cast shared a few details about Skull Island's plot, which takes place during the Vietnam era and centers around "a group of explorers who set off on an adventure to a previously uncharted island." Upon arriving to the island, the crew discovers it's inhabited by "mythic beasts that come into their midsts, and they have to get off the island alive."

Legendary's ape-centric film features an all-star cast, including Brie Larson as a peace activist and photojournalist named Weaver, Tom Hiddleston as former British SAS Officer Captain James Conrad, and Jason Mitchell as a helicopter pilot named Glenn Mill. Several others, including Corey Hawkins, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman and Thomas Mann will star as well.

Kong: Skull Island is being directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and opens in theaters on March 10, 2017. The film shifted from Universal to Warner Bros. last year, with plans to combine the Godzilla and King Kong franchises into a single shared universe.
